Did you know that the Tulip is the national flower of Turkey? Its history and significance go back centuries... and it was from Turkey that they migrated to The Netherlands.
Not only that... the Tulip has always been the original flower associated with love... before the rose.
The painting you see in this picture was originally a commission for a Turkish restaurant. Mixed media on paper... the idea was to be able to have it scanned and printed in different sizes to suit the rooms it was going to be going into.
Sadly... with husband and wife (restaurant owners) having different ideas about decor and other things...the restaurant closed... but the painting stills holds a special place in my heart.
Whilst it is a very simple design... it holds significant meaning.
A very deep love therein... and who knows... perhaps one of these days we'll see prints of differing sizes in multiple places... and if you are one of the lucky people to purchase one... know that you have something very special indeed!
